Negotiating the ‘Twiggy Track’

The ‘Twiggy Track Camp’ in the Victorian High Country is a mecca for Hunting, Fishing and 4W Driving. Devoid of facilities and 'bloody bollards'! There are no neighbours miles within gunshot and the camp possibly only sees a handful of campers each year. Nestled next to the upper reaches of the Dargo River that marks the divide between the Birregun State Forest and the Alpine National Park in Victoria.

Getting there is another story. The 4 kilometre track branches East off The Birregun Road midway between Omeo and Dargo. The degree of difficulty will vary dramatically depending on the weather and the damage previous fellow adventurers have wreaked whilst negotiating the track.

We found the track in pretty good condition and our two Toyotas (no lockers or lift) managed without too much effort. As you will see there were a couple of washouts and holes that needed some bush before being approached and navigated with caution. Mission accomplished and a ton of fun was had by all.
