1960s Big Lap - South Western Australia

16,618 miles in an unbreakable 1962 EK Holden towing a 15' Viscount Van with Mum, Dad and three little ones on board. The trip was hampered by cyclones, extreme heat (no aircon in those days!) major floods and plenty of bull dust.

In Perth and stayed at CSIRO at Floreat Park. They proved to us just how good hospitality can be in that part of the world. We stayed at the best appointed caravan park of our tour - thanks, Alec. I might mention here that most of the time we avoided caravan parks and kept to the bush.

We finally tore ourselves away from Perth and drove to Geraldton to find a cyclone which was pounding Carnarvon, had washed away the highway, preventing our reaching there.

Having had a month in W.A., we headed back East after visiting Wave Rock near Hyden
